McCarrick Construction was established in 1953
by James McCarrick, who took control of the partnership
he had
originally founded after the war. McCarrick Construction
is a small family business renowned for its quality of
workmanship.
Many of its staff and employees have been with the
company for between 20 and 40 years and it is because
of them
that we are able to maintain this consistently high
standard. The present owner is James McCarrick's son
Michael, who joined the company in 1976

The photograph above, taken in 2003, shows all the
company's employees at the time. Guest of honour, in
the forefront
of the picture, is John Stanley McQueen, retired Contracts
Manager and at the time of his retirement, the longest
serving employee of the company. He joined on the second
day of business in 1953 and will be 89 this year!
McCarrick
Homes was established in 1985 in response to the increasing
demand for new housing. It has expanded
steadily and we have enjoyed rapid sales due to our policy
of developing only small, exclusive sites.

We have established an excellent reputation
for conversion of listed buildings including converting
a former Grade 2 listed Mansion House at Dunston Hill,
Whickham
into
eleven
2 bedroom luxury apartments. Other, similar, conversions
include, The Hermitage and Garden Farm Barn in Chester
le Street and The Old
Brewery in Houghton le Spring.

We
have twice won The Newcastle Journal/Homemaker’s 'Best Small
Builder' award, and have been consistently commended
for the quality of our finished product. We also achieved
'Runner up' in the 'Best
Showhome Interior' category of the 2004
21st Century Living Awards, and 'Winner', in this category, in 2006.
We cannot compete with large
volume builders and we never attempt to. Our aim is to
produce individual homes
in small desirable locations. For over 50 years we have
sought to produce “quality homes with the personal
touch”
